about

You spend the rest of the week investigating whenever you get a moment. On the tenth floor, you discover the Department’s mainframe. It can print you a Level 5 clearance card, meaning you can get into the sub-basement levels. The only problem is you need a Level 4 keycard to access the mainframe. Your card is only a Level 2 keycard.

While you ruminate on what to do, Melissa comes over to your desk.
“Hey, Greg. This Friday, there’s a work outing at G Club.”
“That swanky place on Buck Lane? How did they afford that?”
“The guys on ninth are treating us. Do you want to come? Maybe we could dance together?”
You try to stop yourself from blushing.
”Sounds good. I’ll see you there.”
Melissa hands you a note with the date and time on it. She’s also scribbled her number on it, which you only notice after she’s already walked off.
“All the people from the ninth floor will be there.” you mutter to yourself. “Maybe I can swipe a Level 4 keycard from one of them.”

The big night finally arrives. Your first ever work outing. On one hand, you’re nervous about dancing with Melissa, but on the other hand, you’re determined to swipe one of those Level 4 keycards.
You meet up with everyone and enter the club. The strobing lights and thumping bass make it hard to focus. You slap your cheeks. You have a mission you need to carry out.
Amidst the clamouring and touching of bodies, you manage to swipe a Level 4 keycard from someone’s back pocket. The adrenaline rush you get from taking it gives you the confidence to approach Melissa.
“Do you wanna dance?” you say, placing your hand on her hip.
“Do you know what? I think I do.” she says, holding onto you tightly.

At that moment, while the electro music blares out and everyone around you throws shapes, bouncing into each other, you and Melissa share an intimate slow dance.
